One of our pastor's favorite jokes is that he had a "drug problem" growing up. He was "drug" to church everytime the door was open. We never made the intentional decision to do this for our children but somehow it has happened.
CFBC has been such a huge part of our life as a family! (which really makes me laugh since it has been all so unintentionally)
M and I met in the church parking lot 13 years ago on October 29th, 1999. A few short months later on Easter Sunday, M proposed to me while in knight's costume riding a horse. Again, at the church. The horse balked at going through the parking lot and up to the door of the church so it was on the side of the church instead. We married and moved away, never anticipating a return to the huge mega-church.
When we moved back in December 2005, we planned to only attend our church until my parents moved a few weeks later. We never left.
While we had been trying to get pregnant in Alabama, I feel like so much of the heartache and tears were spent in Texas with friends from our church. We had many prayer warriors from church praying for God's blessing in a child. With this history, it was also the greatest joy to be able to share with our Sunday school class (and others) that God had indeed blessed us with a new life in the fall of 2007.
Our son David was born and brought to church at only 1 1/2 weeks old. Elizabeth was also prayed for by friends at church. We brought her to church at only a few days old. Abigail too became one of the youngest babies to attend church at only 6 days old.
When not in church on Sunday mornings, we are there practically every other day of the week for other activities. We are blessed to live so close that we could walk (if really wanted to--although never done). We come up to the church regularly to workout (I exercise, the kids play). My non-denominational Bible study happens to meet at our church. We have a Parent's Night Out monthly at church. We have had many a social at church. We have come to some Wednesday night services/classes. We are part of MOMS on Mondays. We have come to church for leader's meetings. We have voted in political elections here. We have even shopped at one of the local kid's consignment sales which was held at the church facilities several times in the past.
Throughout this we have come to know and love the ladies who take care of our children.
Miss Laura always has a smiling face when she greets us at the desk in the kid's building and readily opens the door for us without complaining.
Miss Marjory and Miss Glenda have taken care of all three of my children as babies faithfully almost every time we are at church. They won't tell any stories about which one is easiest, right? :)
Miss Danielle and Miss Annalisa have taken care of Elizabeth so cheerfully. Miss Annalisa has kept E happy even when others have failed!
Miss Cricket loves my children and has sweetly taken care of David many a time in all his various moods!
This is the only church home my children have known. David freely roams the halls and knows all the nooks and crannies of this large, sprawling church. It is definitely their home away from home! Thank you CFBC and individual ladies who have invested so heavily in my children's lives!
