As we undertake to keep up with the rest of the world and technology... we will attempt to keep our thoughts penned regularly for you here on our blog. Most importantly, we would like this to be a reflection of the love of our Faithful Saviour, Jesus Christ.

let the craziness begin...

We have joined the masses who spend hours taking their kids to and from activities.  I am still in a bit of rebellion over it, but I want/need to continue to give up myself, and I know that this is very good for David.  David is playing soccer with Klein soccer.  He is on a U5 team, with two practices a week already and a game on the weekend.  About half the team played last season and the other half is new.  I was fully prepared for them all to be picking daisies, but other than a few moments when David was fascinated by a dusty bald spot on the field, he paid attention quite well.  Our team won the first game last weekend either 6 or 7-1.  All our goals were scored by a superstar on David's team.  David is quite quick but a bit hesitant to attack the ball.  He spent much of the game jumping up and down cheering on the team while everyone else was playing "herd ball" 10 feet away.  When he did connect, David has a strong kick though.  The aggression will come.  What a gorgeous day for our first game!!!

David absolutely loves soccer!  Go, Blue Eagles!  And Go, #8!

last month at two

Bizbeth is 35 months old going on 35 years old.

I came in one day to find her in front of my mirror sticking her fingers in her eyes  ~ "putting in her contacts," according to her.

She still sucks the two middle fingers occasionally when she is tired (as is evidenced by her adorable, slightly bucktoothed smile).  However, she knows that sucking your thumb is not good for the teeth.  We have often heard her chide David with "Don't be a beaver, David!"

She plays with David much better these days.  However, he is not as fond of being affectionately called "Bud Bud" by his little sister (a nickname that she apparently picked up from me).

Dressing up every chance she can in a ballet tutu or princess dress, she often identifies herself as Princess Pea.

She loves to read books and point to the characters and say "this one is me, and this one is David, etc..."  How much that reminds me of my childhood, constantly claiming bedrooms in open houses that we would tour for fun on Sundays... I have also often come into her room after naptime to find her reading the Action Bible.  How this thrills my heart.

And for the record, she is the slowest eater in history!  She just does not care that much about food.  You can tell this because she is rarely too disappointed when you take away her plate because she has spent 1 hour at the table and still unsuccessfully finished the 3 chicken nuggets and some veggies (while A ate 4 nuggets and veggies in 20 mins).

For some reason, she can get hysterical when "shoobugs" are around.  Still not sure what a shoobug is, but I believe she has dedicated that term for all bugs that fly around.

I am praying that a lot of the frustration that this little girl daily experiences will be resolved in this next year as her abilities continue to catch up with her quick mind.  I know that the defiance I see in her will also be softened by a personal relationship with the Lord.  We are praying daily for that too.  She is showing more openness to His work in her life recently.  She constantly talks about Jesus death on the cross for sins.  She is not yet completely aware of her sin though.  A touching moment this week:  I was under stress because of a dead screen on my cell phone.  I was talking about not being sure what to do to fix it.  Biz chimed up from the back seat, "Don't worry, Mommy.  God can do anything."  Coming from her lips, that was unexpected and such sweet music.  We stopped and prayed and then God so kindly chose to show the kids the quick resolution to a completely crippled cell phone.  We thanked Him together!

red hot, maybe not

I discovered a few things this Valentine's Day.

1.  the token red hots I used to receive as a child every Valentine's Day no longer come heart shaped.
2.  the red hots are a lot hotter than I remembered.
3.  the red hots are so hot, in fact, that I was relieved that none of my children really liked them--I  was already imagining burnt tongues.
4.  red hots will not be passed along as further tradition in the Valentine's cards.

We celebrated this year's holiday as a family.  Maybe not so red hot...But I did have lots of little Valentines this year. :)  David attended his first soccer practice that night.  He loves it!

Afterward, Michael and I picked up a very overpriced heart shaped pizza for the kids dinner while we munched on Bullritos.

Michael, the poet, came back for the occasion.  He truly surprised me with a wonderful poem -- the first in many years.  Thank you, Lovie Love!
