Contractor time

We have been talking about redoing our master bath for ages.  Finally took the leap.  We have been very happy with our contractor (will happily give a referral) and are about to wrap up in the next few days.  Meanwhile, I have been homebound for 2 weeks.  During this time, I discovered one of the advantages of going out many mornings.  Not at home = less mess made. 

The kiddos have had fun at home, though, dumping all toys out 2-3 times a day.  Dress-up time too.

the world of water

Summer has finally arrived and we have now enjoyed time in both our backyard pool and the neighborhood pool.

The backyard pool was more a source of entertainment in the filling and "bailing" that occurred.  Biz followed David's example and proceeded to bucket-load by bucket-load empty the pool onto the slide.  David enjoyed sliding down the fast, wet slide.  Elizabeth not as much (but she did try it once and received a dirty bottom to show for it).  Abigail was not nearly as enthusiastic about the time outside.  Think we were infringing on her desired 30 minute morning nap.

And on Memorial Day we enjoyed our first outing to the neighborhood pool.  It was manageable with Michael's help, but the kiddos did so well, I am pondering the idea of going by myself.  David got over his fear of the water within the first minutes (remember March 15th post?).  He even swam without his floaties 3 times at the end.  He doggie paddled well but eventually ended up with head under water as he grabbed for the side of the pool.  He did not love it, however, I am so proud of him for trying.  He did quite well for the first time.  Elizabeth was the greatest surprise!  She has only been in the water on her birthday (other than in the baby float last year a few times).  She was rather scared in March but this time just took to the water very well.  She was kicking her legs and could even be let go much of the time as she floated well with the puddle jumper.  She could swim around a bit too.  A few more swimming opportunities, and I think she might be quite independent!  I feared Abigail would not be too fond of the cold water, but she took it all in stride and just chilled out in the pool float most of the time. 

 

Last vestige of babyhood.

Abigail shocked us all yesterday when I glimpsed something in her mouth.  I put my finger in and...sure enough!  It was her first tooth!  Just barely in and and far from visible in a picture, it was there nonetheless.  At 11 months old, I should not have been shocked, but it seemed so out of the blue!  Hopefully, as "they" say, the later getting teeth, the stronger they are.
