As we undertake to keep up with the rest of the world and technology... we will attempt to keep our thoughts penned regularly for you here on our blog. Most importantly, we would like this to be a reflection of the love of our Faithful Saviour, Jesus Christ.

the girl that hath no music in her...

...is most definitely NOT Bizbeth.  She is singing constantly!  She sings some recognizable songs like "Jesus loves me,"  "Jesus loves the little children," and "Trust and Obey" as well as some more original pieces that she makes up as she goes.  She also loves to dance!!!  This girl will bust out her moves in the grocery store (in time with the music) or anywhere else for that matter.  She can't just sit still when she hears music; she is immediately on her feet dancing.

She is still ever the little Mommy and helps me immensely. She loves to baby Abigail still, and she is getting a bit better at determining what actually needs to be done.  Bizbeth constantly insists that Abigail is "precious."  She also loves to walk around with her baby dolls and talk to them.  As well as cuddling with stuffed animals.  Such an affectionate sweetheart!

And I love her hedgehog backpack (thanks Gram!) and so does she.  This picture makes me laugh though because it looks like the hedgehog is in "time out" at the end of the line.

She listens closely and follows instructions well--even when searching for things.  She has even been known to get on David's case if he does not follow instructions correctly or fast enough.  She has an excellent memory and can remember where she left things hours before.  She also surprised me the other day by pointing to a shape and saying "triangle!"  Of course, she was right--it was a triangle!  She can also count to five.

We are at a standstill on the potty training because she refuses to do it, but she will tell me every single time after the fact and ask me to change her diaper.  One day...

A funny story--Biz is the girl who fell out of a shopping cart at Walmart.  A fellow standing nearby said, "at least she will never do that again!"  Hah!  He did not know my daughter too well.  She has proceeded to flip out of the cart at least once or twice more since and often tries to stand up in the cart (we do have a rule which she mostly follows now about sitting when it is moving).  With that background... one day on the way home from the pool, I was pulling the wagon with both girls in it.  There are no straps and Abigail had been trying to stand up multiple times on the short ride home.  I kept sitting her back down.  We have a small step up from the street to our driveway.  As I got to the house, she stood up at the exact moment I went over that bump.  She flipped out of the wagon on the ground.  She began screaming (out of fear and surprise)--she was soon just fine except a slightly scraped up forehead.  The next time we took the girls out in that wagon, Elizabeth began screaming in fear.  She insisted we hold her hand so that she would not fall out like Abigail.  The intelligent girl learned more from watching someone else than she ever learned from her own mistakes! :)

She is getting better about trying new food.  She does not like to do so, but she knows we will demand it of her, so she now rarely fights the one necessary bite.  Still won't eat more than the same 3-4 foods as a rule though.  I think she is a closet vegetarian.

Can you tell her shoes are on the wrong feet??? Neither can she. :)  She gets it wrong more often than she gets it right...but at least, she can put on her own shoes.

And the pacifier is upside and just something she likes to chew on if she runs across one.

She still hates having her picture taken most of the time--which is funny because she is quite photogenic!

Happy 31 months!

Faces at Fifty-nine months

Sweet and silly

...and the outfits...

But this month also saw the start of school for David.  We began Kindergarten!!!  We are doing it as able now so that we can take off or go slower during the school year.  I am amazed!  This little flighty butterfly is actually sitting down and focusing (mostly) for about 2 hours in the afternoon.  When the sisters get up, all bets are off though. :)  He has been doing very well!!!  He has already memorized Romans 3:23.  We have read quite a few books, sorted shapes, learned the letter "f" and the letter "a" and even handwriting has not yet posed the challenge I thought it would be.  Now, if he could only count to 10 without skipping "7" every time!  (he can actually count to 12, but no #7)

David is becoming a better helper--offering to buckle in Bizbeth and take Abigail for a walk.

And for the record, he is now eating virtually everything!  He often asks to try new foods...sometimes he likes them, sometimes not, but he always finishes his tasting bite.

He still says the funniest things sometimes and sweetly mispronounces a few words (although that is getting less and less frequent).  Love the latest pronunciation of Indiana Jones (a lego wii game he likes to play with Daddy)--"Minia Jones"  PS:  Do we have a modern-day prophet on our hands?  David has started regularly responding "my God told me..."  when we ask why he knows something, is doing something. And sometimes he just volunteers the information that God told him that he should wear his angry birds shirt to church, for example.

Cheery Child!  Next month you will be 5 years old!!!

4th of july

It amazes me that just one year ago I was out celebrating the 4th of July after having given birth to a baby less than 48 hours before.  Abigail is my little fourth of July baby!

This year, we headed up to the Woodlands for fireworks.  The place was incredibly busy.  We parked up at the mall by Dillard's and walked all the way down to the waterway area since I had heard that that was the place to see the fireworks.  It was even busier there and not so pleasant with a bunch of people drinking, etc...and a sort of carnival atmosphere.  We did decide to park ourselves there though next the the monster ambulance.

The wait began.  The kids did unusually well as we waited another hour or so for the fireworks to begin.

The moment they began, they were all mesmerized.  David was the most enthusiastic, but also the only one to peter out a bit at the end.  Unfortunately, our "prime" location by the water was not so "prime" as half the fireworks were obscured by a very tall building.  I suspect the viewing from the mall parking lot would have been as good if not better.  They were still quite magnificent.

Then the trek back to the car and the 30 minute wait to get out of the parking lot and onto the highway again.

Was it worth the tired kids the next morning at pictures?  I think so but not sure we will do it again for a couple of years.
