Diaper Champ--like Diaper Genie but less expensive all the way around. Not only is it a bit cheaper up front, but you can use regular tall kitchen bags in it instead of the expensive genie refills. It seems to keep in the smell pretty effectively too.
Karo Syrup--as suggested initially by my friend Lindsay, later by one and all. Good for putting a tiny bit in the bottle or on pacifier etc... to help with constipation. Heaven forbid! It did work in less than an hour for us.
Zip Up Sleepers--this just helps the "dirty job" of dressing a wiggly/screaming baby as quickly as possible...especially when you are as coordinated at matching snaps as me!
Bumpkin Superbibs, like my Dr. Seuss one-- these clean up very easily in the sink and dry overnight or sooner. They also do not stain, unlike fabric bibs. They are soft and flexible, unlike normal plasticized bibs. They are also large enough to cover decently...at least up until toddler. (I will reassess then--they do make a larger size too)
Spray 'n Wash--for diaper, formula or other stains. Much cheaper than Oxyclean and does the job equally as well.
Kitchenaid KHB100 stick blender-- I bought this for my birthday to make pureed soups. However, after I got it, I discovered it was also useful for making baby food!!! It even comes with a 3 cup container to blend food in. I made pureed peas and carrots last night. The peas came in a can (easy!) and cost 52c. They made the equivalent of 6 baby food tubs (I actually used old tubs and froze them) which would cost about $2.70. Profit--$2.18. Time--5 minutes or less. (paid about $24/hour) Also did carrots which will be even cheaper since it made more. Did those from fresh carrots...have yet to put into tubs so not sure how much they made yet. All in all, easy for making your own baby food (and I think easier to get completely pureed over a blender)

Thanks for sharing, Margaret! I'll have to print this list. I have been thinking about making my own baby food, too. Glad to know there is profit in it! What kind of peas did you use? How much water did you add? You'll have to tell me your process! =)
I still love zip up sleepers for Latham in the winter time...they help him stay warm on the cold nights. One of my favorite bibs is one at Wal-Mart that has a pocket that snaps up and stays open so the food is actually caught in it. It's easy to wipe clean and actually snaps so the kids can't pull it off once they get stronger. I highly recommend it once you begin finger foods...plus it's large and covers the whole torso!!
just used canned peas (Walmart brand was the cheapest) with no salt added. Kim said she has used frozen veggies (perhaps a tiny bit harder but probably also cheaper...may try next time) I just added water until it looked like the veggies in the tub (which is a lot of water) I think a recipe I have calls for 2 cups vegetables for 2/3 c. water (but I think I put more water than that)
Thanks, girl!
