As we undertake to keep up with the rest of the world and technology... we will attempt to keep our thoughts penned regularly for you here on our blog. Most importantly, we would like this to be a reflection of the love of our Faithful Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Two Days for a Big Two Year Old!: part 1

Elizabeth turned two on Friday.  Michael took the day off and we crammed quite a lot into that day.  We started the day donning our best rodeo attire followed by a stop at our favorite local bagel shop to grab some bagels for breakfast on the road.  We then headed down to the Houston Rodeo.  We hit an accident and got a bit of a later start than we were aiming for, so we only got to graze the surface before nap meltdowns occurred.

We started the fun in the livestock building.  Elizabeth was fascinated by all the cows and kept pointing them out and yelling, "Cow!"  David was a bit more leery and Abigail was already a bit cranky due to naptime and ended up in the front carrier early on.

We visited the tractor section.

We saw lots of cowboys with lassos and even more livestock: sheep and pigs.

The kids petted some bunnies.  David was very uncertain while Elizabeth jumped right in and gave them a rub.  I burst into laughter when D commented on the size of a huge rabbit in a cage.  (which one of these things is not like the others? see below)  I set him straight on characteristics of live bunnies.  :)

Next, we viewed an exhibit on eggs (one chick had just hatched, one just found his legs, others were more steady) and on to the larger chickens.

We visited Elsie the Cow (sorry, not going to pose) and David and Elizabeth got to "milk" a cow.

We did see other exhibits of bees, sunflowers, birthing, etc...but the two olders were pretty well done at this point.  D was insistent on drinking milk, E was just plain tired.  Abigail was pretty content in the carrier the whole time, even though she did not take a nap.

The ride home was not so pleasant since we had missed naptime by about an hour.
Elizabeth began a tantrum and squirmed around in her seat until about 2 minutes before we pulled in the driveway.  When I turned around to get her out, here is what I found! as if she had fallen asleep mid-tantrum. :)

The day was not over yet, but naptime was calling so the girls headed straight to bed.
