As we undertake to keep up with the rest of the world and technology... we will attempt to keep our thoughts penned regularly for you here on our blog. Most importantly, we would like this to be a reflection of the love of our Faithful Saviour, Jesus Christ.

hours of togetherness. fifteen minutes of bang.

We decided to try and go to the Woodlands fireworks show again this year.  I researched online where to go (they had changed location).  We went early around 7:15ish.  We found a great location in the mall parking lot parked next to a green belt.  We were able to lay down on the lawn and eat our picnic dinner.  The area filled up gradually and by 8:30 was pretty full.  We were so thankful to have such a nice spot.  The weather was beautiful and we did have fun for a while.  The kids started getting antsy after 1.5 hours of waiting though.  The car trunk became a playroom but even that lost its novelty.  Around 9:00 the kids were almost done with it all --and we hadn't even started.

The fireworks started around 9:30.  We did have a great view of the "major" fireworks show.  The special effects show could be heard but only the tops of some of the fireworks could be seen behind the buildings.  The kids were wowed!  Abigail couldn't remember the last show we went to (two years previously, I think) so it was pretty neat.  But without any finale, the fireworks just stopped after 10-15 minutes.  The special effect fireworks were still shooting off but we couldn't see most of them.  We opted to wait thinking that something must have gone wrong and it would begin again soon.  No.  That was it.  We hopped in the car (fortunately by this time the car was no longer double parked in) and tried to head home.  45 minutes later we got out of the parking lot!

Lots of memories and lots of togetherness.  The 10 minutes of fireworks will have to last me several years...

Happy 4th of July!
