only the brave

...or the foolhardy headed outside on Saturday, December 7th.  With one of Houston's highly rare freezing cold days, undeterred we decided to attend our 3rd annual Champions Village activities.  It is a local shopping center that holds an open house with several activities around the shopping strip.  We skipped a few activities this year (the cold made the open carriage ride far from appealing, despite no wait in line, and the cookie decorating was definitely not very tempting after last year's experience. See last year's post.)  David did, however, brave the ferris wheel--a new attraction.  Note how the workers were dressed.

After the ferris wheel, the kiddos took a quick turn in the petting zoo.

Time to ride the train.  We were disappointed that we ended up on the "open-air" train (there were two running).  However, neither would have provided much protection from the wind and cold.  Brrr....

We were able to take the train to Santa where the kids had pictures with him.  They were all wearing cute matching outfits under the heavy jackets but none of that mattered anymore.  And Abigail responded as the other two had in years past; she wanted nothing to do with Santa!  We thawed out quickly in the room while waiting for the pictures to print out.  Time to ride the train back to the car and go home.
