Christmas Day!!! The plan today was to sleep in. (my kids did far better than I expected--first, they were tired out from the previous day of traveling and no naps. second, the time change fooled them.) E and D slept together in the same room and A, M and I slept together. We were going to relax and meet Sarah and Rich at their place for lunch. As it always goes, the present that I still had to assemble for Sarah and Rich did not work as planned so I spent a few hours hunting down another "E" (see finished product below) and printing it out to be just the right size. Meanwhile, Great Grammy fed Abigail and E and D played. Then, it was Michael's turn to tackle a challenge. The rental car we had gotten the night before in the dark and rain, turned out to have lots of broken glass in the back seat upon daylight inspection. M spent several hours with his dad returning it and getting another rental car--they did upgrade us to a mini-SUV (which had no more space than our full size, but we still managed to get 3 car seats in). We headed to the Leeds for a late lunch. First Grandpa read the Christmas story. The various characters were held up as the story was read. Next, we opened gifts. There were more books for the kids, Cars underwear for David, fun bandaids and fairy wings and wand for Biz, car track for D, handmade bandana dresses for Biz, handmade Thing 3 onesie for A (pics coming soon of all kiddos), candy, cards, itunes gift card, PF Chang's gift cards and even neater--the offer of babysitting the next night so S, R, M, and M could go on a double date to dinner!!! All told, it fit well in the return suitcase. The meal came next and it was well worth the wait! We had ham, lamb with mint jelly, cheesy potatoes, spinach roulades, green bean casserole, rolls, chocolate mint truffles and a baby Jesus birthday cake! A lovely day at the Leeds...we headed home around 8 pm and all crashed again.
