As we undertake to keep up with the rest of the world and technology... we will attempt to keep our thoughts penned regularly for you here on our blog. Most importantly, we would like this to be a reflection of the love of our Faithful Saviour, Jesus Christ.

The many smells of Christmas...

For those observant souls, you will have realized that I already blogged through the twelve days of Christmas, and I have not even gotten to Christmas Day. This year there were far more than twelve days...

We left Monday, Christmas Eve to fly to Virginia.  We had not been up there (Michael's parents and one sister & Fam live there) in 3 years.  It seemed a logical time to visit since both A and E were free lap babies this year for the last time.  (and I was blown away by how pricey the tickets now are!)  We had many people praying for our flights and sleep while there.  Both flights were non-stop 3 1/2 hours.  Monday's flight was not pleasant but could have been worse.  E was the primary culprit...why was I not too surprised to find that my little girl who likes the boundaries of carseat straps was not as happy sitting on our laps?  A few people took the offered earplugs and probably were glad they had them.  Even the DVD player did not entertain long enough.  Only the consumable snacks quieted E for a bit.  D was moderately content watching a movie and A slept half the time.  The plan was to meet Rich at the airport (with VA carseats), go to Mom and Dad's house, and then go to the late Christmas Eve service while Mom and Dad watched the kids (their suggestion).  We arrived late and only had enough time to go straight to the church where we met Mom and Dad who switched cars and drove the kids home to their house.  Both girls were finally asleep in the car.   A awoke right before switching drivers.  She was screaming.  Strike one.  Neither one had met Grammy or Grandpa before and E awoke to strangers. Strike two.  I hurriedly told Dad where Abigail's bottle was and pulled out the formula for him so that they could feed her when they got home.  Half way through the service, I realized I had put E's sippy cup (with a hard plastic nipple) in A's bottle bag and A's bottle was deep in the inner recesses of a different backpack.  Strike three!  Mom and Dad did unsuccessfully try the sippy cup until Dad was able to locate the more appropriate bottle.  PS in the process, we took D with us to church but forgot the booster seat in the car Mom and Dad had.  Oops...  We came home and had a yummy dinner of spaghetti.  The kids spent a few minutes playing with toys that Michael played with as a child, and then we were all rather happy to head to bed early.
