Masked no longer...

Michael and I continued our Christmas activities with his company to-do.

It certainly was a "to-do!!!"  We had been forewarned that there would be a lot of people there, but I had no idea how many that really was until I saw it for myself...  (maybe 2000?)  Technip had rented out all the common spaces of the Omni Hotel in the Galleria.  This meant the outdoor patio (brrrr), the downstairs very spacious lobby, the restaurant, the bar, the downstairs spacious hall(room), the downstairs ballroom (converted to casino), the upstairs winding maze of hallways, the upstairs smaller ballroom and the upstairs 10,000 sq ft huge ballroom (alone that seats probably 500-600 as well as a large dance floor).

In every location there were tables and tables and tables set up with unlimited, never-ending food of all kinds.  There was an appetizer table with yummy cheeses, all sorts of crackers and bread, and fruit.  The adjacent table was filled with overflowing desserts that were replenished all night: creme brulee cups (yum!), 4-5 different types of mousse shot glasses, Christmas cookies, cobbler, bread pudding, several types of cake, tarts etc...  Another table was the salad table with mixed greens in three different types of dressings.  It also included an area with various salad toppings that could be added to the mason jar salads.  A fourth table was the seafood table.  There was crusted salmon, giant shrimp and crab legs, and several types of sushi.  The traditional Christmas table held a herb-rubbed turkey, sweet potatoes, stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce.  The final table held short ribs and something else I can't remember because I was so full by then.  All these choices were available at least once in each of the main common areas.  There was also an unlimited bar set up in each of these areas.

There was live music in several areas, jazz band etc... Each area had a slightly different feel.  The hotel (apparently) had provided costumed floor-walkers to float and mingle.  Each was attired in a different manner (stilts walkers, phantom of the opera, marie antoinette, italian death mask man, japanese girl, etc...)  After all it was a masquerade ball.  Oh, didn't I mention that before?

Yes, it was a masquerade.  It was to be cocktail attire but I completely fit in in my ballroom dress...in fact, quite a few were even more dressed up than I.

Other than a few minutes spent talking to one of his older coworkers, it was primarily spent taking in the sights with Michael.  We had quite a night!  Definitely worth the babysitter fees. :)
